Vitro: Unifying Employee Communications
At Krakoff Communications, we are passionate about delivering tangible results to our clients and helping them take their companies to new heights.
Vitro, one of the world’s leading glass manufacturers, is an example. Vitro produces, distributes and markets a wide range of architectural and automotive glass products that are part of daily life for millions of people across the globe. With more than a dozen plants, the company wanted to improve how it communicates with all their employees while presenting them with a unified message. They wanted their employees to see the success that was taking place throughout the company. This is where we stepped in to help.
The first item we produced for Vitro was a quarterly magazine-style newsletter called Sightlines. The publication features project profiles, information about employee benefits, spotlights on plants, and even health and wellness tips for employees. The idea behind the 20-page color magazine that is printed and mailed to employees’ homes is for employees to read it on their own time outside of work to be more informed about news, projects and day to day life at Vitro.
An example is a recent feature article describing how Vitro’s products are used on Amazon’s headquarters in Seattle. The building uses two low-emissivity glass products that have helped the building to earn LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification at the Gold level. Articles like these help employees understand the real-world impact of their work.
“The response that we have gotten from employees regarding Sightlines has been great,” said Tom Meston, Manager of Employee Relations for Vitro. “A lot of our employees are working on the plant floor and therefore do not have access to email or the Internet; so they really appreciate being able to read Sightlines at home and share it with their families.”
Sightlines was only the beginning of our relationship with Vitro. Since Sightlines, we have helped Vitro expand upon their employee-centric approach in multiple ways. We have created billboards to help Vitro with recruiting and are currently working on an Intranet site to improve digital communications with employees. We have also created office wall graphics for a new Vitro office in Pittsburgh to reinforce the mission and values of the company.
Whether you have a need for communicating with internal or external audiences, we’d love to talk about how we can help. Contact us at for more information.
